University of Washington Breaks Ground on Basketball Training Facility

by Jasmine Kilman

The University of Washington (UW), in partnership with Mortenson and Gensler, broke ground on the school’s new ICA Basketball Training Facility, a 36,000-square-foot home for men’s and women’s basketball. The $60 million project is fully donor-funded, with over $1 million coming from Husky basketball players and alumni.

The training facility includes two 9,800-square-foot practice courts, individually dedicated to the men’s or women’s basketball program for exclusive 24/7 access, providing fair and equitable spaces with cutting-edge equipment for both basketball programs. The project is targeting completion in the Fall of 2025.

“This groundbreaking is the much-anticipated culmination of an exciting partnership with the University of Washington Athletics and Mortenson,” said Francesly Sierra, Project Manager, Gensler Seattle. Additional features include viewing and gathering spaces, a conference and recruiting room, and 4,000 square feet of renovations.
